Designer: dennis bassoinspiration: a part of the landscape of american fashion and celebrating 35 years this year, dennis basso offers one of the oldest churches in new york, the saint bartholomew church on park avenue, as the location for his latest show. no less than 70 models were used to show a chic collection, blending day outfits with evening sheath dresses. collection: a contemporary girl, who doesn’t hesitate to wear her loose trousers, perfectly cut, with a sequined top. the trench is a good option, even if the designer increases the propositions with fur coats. plain asymmetric dresses in red or purple, with a singular long sleeve, or an exposed back are a perfect option for cocktails. to note: hilary rhoda who opens and closes the show. interview with dennis basso: this is my 35th anniversary, and it’s very interesting also because my first show was on park avenue at the regency hotel, just ten blocks away so to be able to return to park avenue 35 years later, very close, is a very nice feeling for me. i sort of went back to my archives and tried to take the best of the past 35 years and develop it into a collection that was interesting but that was suited for the modern woman, mixing evening with day and together doing some things, the way women are dressing today on the street. everyone’s mixing everything up, casual with evening so we’ve done a little bit of both to create this very new, strong, young feeling. today people really want comfort they want to look good but they want to feel good. we’ve developed the furs in such a way with processing that they’re very lightweight and not heavy. i’ve tried to marry the feel of couture, with ready-to-wear, because often we’re doing very specific things for specific clients music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information)
